Nandita was killed with a machete for rejecting marriage proposal.

Nandita hailed from Naba Kathbari village in Dhakuakhana. She was a BA third-semester student of Maridhal College in Dhemaji.

Nandita Saikia was attacked with a machete, on Saturday, by Rintu Sarma in Dhemaji district of Assam.

Nandita was killed by Rintu Sharma with a machete for rejecting his marriage proposal.

According to police, Nandita was attacked by Rintu Sarma with a machete, while she was with her classmate Kashmira Dutta and her father Deba Dutta at the Dhemaji bus stand.

“The three of them were immediately admitted to the Dhemaji Civil Hospital for treatment. Later, Nandita Saikia was shifted to Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh, then to Brahmaputra Hospital,” police said.

Meanwhile, police have arrested Rintu Sarma.

Rintu Sarma is an employee at the Maridhal College in Dhemaji, where the victim was a student.

Nandita Saikia succumbed to her wounds on Wednesday around 1.10 am after being brutally attacked by her college library bearer.

 

Nandita breathed her last at a hospital in Dibrugarh on Wednesday.

 

Nandita was a under- graduate student of the Maridhorol College. Nandita was attacked by a young man working as a bearer in the library called Rintu Sharma of the same college.

Rintu attacked Nandita near Dhemaji bus station last Saturday.

 

Nandita was later undergoing treatment in a critical condition at Dibrugarh Brahmaputra Nursing Home.

 

Rintu also attacked Nandita’s classmate Kashmira Dutta. He attacked Nandita in her head with a sharp weapon and attacked Kashmiri in other parts of the body.
