Women's safety and self-defense

Dear Girls,

Never remove your clothes to prove your love. Going to Date is okay but before marriage never go to bed. Get a boy who can buy safety pads for you, not condoms.
Get a boy who can take you to his home, not to the hotels. Get a boy who asks about your period’s pain, not for nudes. And get a boy who chooses your souls and your heart, not the body!

Respect is one of the greatest expressions of love. A real man never hurts a woman. She is not just a housewife who cooks your meals and washes your clothes.

She is a homemaker who holds together the family and makes sure that everything is as perfect

as it can be once you get home. Respect for women is one of the greatest gifts a man can show.

Pallavi Jain Says • 3 Months ago

I was in a mall and looking for some household items. 3 people were staring at me and

following me. I tried to go on the first floor and they followed me there too. I went to the

second floor and they followed me there too.

I then went to the corner of the 3rd floor and after half an hour I came out of the corner

and went to the main floor and left everything there and was going out of the mall suddenly

I saw the 3 people waiting for someone or me at the entrance.

I got shocked and called my brother to come and pick me. He came and I was safe at home.

I still have to learn how to defend myself and yeah MENS ARE DOGS! Not all of them

but a few.

In India the problem is much worse in some cities. Like in Uttar Pradesh and

Bihar rural areas predators catch the girl from crowded markets or even from

their home, in front of their family members. Police avoid reporting such issues.

Apart from these direct rape and torture cases, where boys trap girls by their

talk and looks. They create false appearance and girls become ready to do

anything for them with their assent. Boys harass them for months or years and

then leave.

Some do blackmailing too to grab money from family or to do sex for years

with them or to indulge them in sexual rackets. Even children are not safe here.

I don't know why they do it with small children. Sexual assault is not only

harming their bodies but also their mental balance. The fear girls have from

their very childhood till their old age. Apart from it we have to face sexual

harassment in offices as well. In all these places no safety technique works as

good. But yes our instinct can help.

UP Rape case has shaken the soul and bone marrow of millions of people in

the country.. While some concrete steps are likely to be taken to arrest such

atrociously disgusting crimes in future, here I share one chain email received

from a well wisher which has some useful tips for women to keep themselves

alert and safe.

Some useful tips for women to keep themselves alert and safe.

Not only single women but every lady needs self defense awareness.

This is must know information for all our Women professionals.

Feel free to share this even with members of your family.

Be aware of your surroundings. Don’t let your guard down

If things seem even a slight unsafe get out of that place immediately

Please trust and make good use of your ‘gut feel’ or ‘intuition’ or ‘sixth sense’

in each & every place and situation

There will invariably be signs, however small or seemingly insignificant, that

tell or alarm you that all is just not OK. You may not understand it or be able

to analyze it consciously, but please do NOT ignore it. It is your personal

threat alarm beeping

Make it a habit to read and notice these warning signs and go with your

intuition to quickly retract yourself, move out or immediately get away from

potentially unsafe situations

o   If avoiding is not possible then be sure to travel only on crowded bus

o   Avoid taking road side cabs

o   Avoid using a bus which has no passenger or few passenger

Ø While using 2 wheelers be sure to wear a helmet at all times

(especially at night). Don’t stop for any stranger

o   In case attacked, use your helmet to defend yourself

Ø While driving a car:

o   Avoid parking at desolate area

o   Look inside the car especially the back seat before unlocking & entering

o   Lock the doors immediately after entering the car

o   Start the car & drive off rather than call someone. Calls can wait

o   Don’t give lift to strangers

o   Don’t stop your car for strangers, especially at night

o   Take known routes, avoid short cuts which you don’t know

Ø While travelling at night don’t keep your phone in your hand

o   Remember phone is the first thing your attacker will throw away

o   Activate your speed dials which can be used to dial numbers in emergency

o   Keep it in your pocket or at a place from where you can easily take it out &

dial a number & leave it on

o   Once the number has been dialled start shouting & try to speak out your

location so that the other person can inform police about your location

o   If you have a smartphone then install emergency apps which can send sms

to known people & can even dial police no. in case of emergency

Ø Don’t take eve teasing lightly

o   Respond with a stern voice

o   Threaten to take a picture which might scare them away

o   If the eve teasing still persists then immediately raise your voice to gather a

crowd

Ø After getting dropped don’t stay outside to take a call

o   Take calls on your phone only when you have entered your home & not

outside

Ø If you feel that someone is following you immediately rush to a crowded

place & if need to be don’t be embarrassed to shout & gain attention

o   Don’t be embarrassed to share such things with your family & friends

Ø In case you are in a sticky situation don’t be afraid to use anything in your

hand to defend yourself

o   Use keys, bottle even your purse to inflict damage to your attacker

Ø Following are the most vulnerable areas to attack:

o   Use your knees to hit hard between the legs of the attacker

o   Using your fingers to poke hard in the eyes

o   Hitting front part of the neck on the Adam's apple will leave him in a shock

o   Punching in the stomach will leave the attacker breathless & unable to chase

you

o   Hitting hard in the chest area

Ø In case you feel you are being stalked or regularly followed, don’t keep it to

yourself because what might be on lighter side now might become dangerous

if not controlled

o   Seek help of friends & family

o   If need be approach police immediately
